WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIMS
In British Columbia, when a family member has been killed as a result of the negligent acts or omissions of someone else, the law provides for surviving family members to bring a legal action to recover monetary losses (damages) which flow from the death. Such damages can vary widely from case to case and family to family, but may include the following: loss of future financial support, loss of inheritance, loss of companionship, medical and funeral expenses. We know that these are very difficult times for families, and our lawyers and staff take over as much of the burden of dealing with the claim as possible.
The lawyers at Osborne Cane have extensive experience with complex wrongful death cases and can advocate for, and guide surviving family members towards, the best outcomes at the negotiating table or at trial. Our surviving family member clients have access to counselling and other supportive care throughout the process of navigating a wrongful death claim, as part of our Exclusive Client Care program.
